Sessions, Scoring & Interpretation

4.1 Sessions vs. Interpretations

Sessions

Sessions are the sleep studies performed by the patient. Each interpretation is built from one or more sessions.

Here’s a breakdown of session statuses:

  • Ongoing (transparent): The patient is currently testing.
  • Processing (transparent): The session is being processed in our system — usually takes 20–30 minutes.
  • To Review (yellow): The session is ready and valid for interpretation.
  • Incomplete (blue): Something went wrong. May be recoverable with support, or a retest might be needed.
  • Short Session (orange): The session didn’t reach your clinic’s threshold (default: 4 hours). May still be usable.
  • Demo (transparent): Sessions under 30 minutes, typically created for educational purposes.

Interpretations

Interpretations are the official clinical output — the result of analyzing sessions and generating a signed report. Each interpretation may include one or more sessions.

New and updated interpretation statuses:

  • Started (yellow): Sessions were selected, and “Start Interpretation” was clicked.
  • Pending Interpretation (yellow, new): Ideal for handoffs between scorers and physicians — sessions and templates are selected, ready for interpretation.
  • Completed (green): The report has been signed and authorized by the physician.
  • Re-sign (orange, new): We suggest to use this when only a small update is needed — like correcting a DOB or a line of text — and the physician needs to re-sign.

4.2 Signal viewer overview

Opening the Signal Viewer

The Signal Viewer opens in a dedicated view for detailed signal review and scoring.

Select a session to open the Signal Viewer.

You have two options for signal review:

  • Open Signals
  • Open Signals + Audio Playback

Regardless of your choice, the same set of available channels will be shown—ensuring a consistent, full-picture view for every user.

Signal Viewer Essentials

The Signal Viewer is where you review raw sleep data and score events.

Key areas of the viewer:

Night summary

  • Displays a high-level timeline of the entire recording.
  • Helps you quickly navigate to specific time periods.

Channels Displayed by Default:

  • Position
  • Pressure
  • Airflow
  • Snoring (signal graph)
  • THX
  • ABD
  • SpO2
  • Pulse
  • Sleep Stage

You can select more channels using Montage Settings.

Time navigation

  • Total frame: View the entire recording.
  • Zoomed view: Focus on a specific time window.
  • You can switch between views to review events in detail.

Resolution

  • Adjust the time scale to review signals at different levels of detail.

Shortcuts

4.3 Montage settings

A montage defines which channels are visible and how they are displayed.

You can:

  • Enable or disable individual channels.
  • Change channel order.
  • Enable or disable auto-scaling.
  • Adjust signal scaling.
  • Select dark or light mode for annotations.
  • Arrow keys size.
  • Assign a montage name.

Visual Settings:

  • Auto Auto Scale – ON by default (new feature!)
  • Show signals on mouse-over – ON
  • Dark annotation color set – ON (can be changed to light)

Scaling options

  • Auto-scale: Automatically adjusts signal amplitude.
  • Manual scale: Allows precise control per channel.

You can save custom montages for reuse across sessions.

How to Save Your Montage:

  1. Open the Signals page in any scoring session and click the “Montage Settings” button at the top.
  2. Adjust the channel visibility, order, and any additional settings.
  3. (Optional) Assign a custom name to your montage.
  4. Click “Save Montage.”

That’s it! Your preferred configuration will be applied by default moving forward.

A Note on Channel Availability

Keep in mind:

Only the channels available in the current study will be shown on the montage.

For example:

  • A Pulse Oximeter study may only display SpO₂ and Pulse.
  • A HSAT Level 3 will offer a broader set of signals.

Your saved montage will intelligently adapt based on what’s available in each study.

4.4 Event editing and bulk actions

You can edit scored events directly in the Signal Viewer.

Supported actions:

  • Edit an individual event.
  • Remove an individual event.
  • Change multiple events at once.
  • Remove multiple events in a single action.

You can apply bulk changes to:

  • The current time frame
  • The entire night

4.5 Interpretation lifecycle

Starting a New Interpretation

Create an interpretation to clinically review one or more sessions.

When starting an interpretation:

  • Select one or more sessions.
  • Choose a report design.
  • Choose an interpretation template.

Within the document viewer, you can:

  • Make manual edits.
  • Refresh the document to apply tag updates. Warning: Refresh tool will erase all manual edits.

To finalize:

  • Sign and authorize the report.
  • Download the completed report.

What Happens After Signing?

Once an interpretation is marked as Completed, the content becomes locked to preserve clinical integrity. However, if changes are needed, users with Scorer or Interpreter permissions can manually change the status.

Allowed manual status changes:

  • Change to Started
  • Change to Pending Interpretation
  • Change to Re-sign

⚠️ Changing from Completed to any other status will require a new physician signature and timestamp, in compliance with medical documentation standards.

Once the status is changed, the interpretation becomes fully editable again.

All manual edits and scoring will be preserved — but you’ll notice that the physician signature elements return to keyword form.

Before Status Change

After Status Change

How to Change Interpretation Status

You can update the status from two places:

  • The Interpretation Table under the patient profile

  • The Interpretation Page itself, via the dropdown in the top-left (accessed through the magnifier icon)

Suggested Workflows

  • Completed → Started or Pending Interpretation

Use this when major edits are needed — e.g., removing sessions, updating the interpretation template, or changing the report design.

  • Completed → Re-sign

Ideal for minor edits — such as fixing typos, updating DOB, or other quick revisions.

Re-sign can also serve as a priority status, signaling that a completed interpretation needs physician review.

Auto-Saving Enabled

When you start or edit an interpretation, all changes are automatically saved.

A small indicator next to the status label will confirm that changes are being saved in real time.
